چکیده

The importance of irrigation practice in food production cannot be over-emphasised, however practices impact soils and other environmental parameters negatively. This necessitates the need for continuous monitoring impacts on general environment. A study was carried out Josepdam Irrigation Scheme (JIS) located Bacita, Ilorin, Nigeria. limited to assessment soil physical chemical properties. Soil samples were collected from irrigated lands at depths 0-20, 20-80 80-120 cm 8 OLs JIS using auger. During each season collection, kept polyethylene bags transported within 24 hours laboratory analyses. analysed immediately according ISRIC-FAO procedures pH, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), Exchangeable Sodium Percent (ESP), Mg2+, Ca2+, Na+ Adsorption Ratio (SAR). results indicated that texture sandy loam clay loam, In JIS, pH 7.2 inception reduced 4.6; SAR increased 0.4 2.14 meq1/2 CEC 18 26 cmolkg-1. determined. these evaluations compared with FAO standards past research results.

Impact of Rural Domestic Wastewater Irrigation on the Physicochemical and Microbiological Properties of Pakchoi and Soil

Great attention has been paid to the potential of wastewater irrigation as a sustainable water source, particularly due to water scarcity and water pollution issues. However, few studies have focused on its adverse effects and on the health risks it may pose. In this study, the physicochemical properties of soils and plants irrigated with rural domestic wastewater and associated microbiological...

Impact of Wastewater Irrigation on Soil Mechanical Properties in the Green Space of Mobarakeh Steel Complex

Long-term use of treated wastewaters for irrigation adds compounds and/or ions to soils which might alter the soil physical, hydraulic and mechanical properties. Soil mechanical properties are closely linked with the plant growth. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of short-, mid- and long-term applications of the treated wastewater of Mobarake Steel Company in Isfahan on the so...

Effect of Irrigation on Soil Properties in Jakara Kano, Nigeria

Soil samples from the Jakara irrigation project site were evaluated with respect to possible degradation caused by irrigation. Most of the soils were neutral to alkaline with pH values ranging between 6.58 + 0.04 and 10.45 + 0.03. The electrical conductivity ranged from 0.3 + 0.01 to 75.2 + 0.06 dSm-1 which implies low to very high salinity. The concentrations of the exchangeable cations in the...
